Ok, so after being a pretty active member for the better part of a year, id like to take a big step and make some offers to the community. As many of you know, www.bionyxindustries.com is the home for my online photography Gallery...this was also the self run web/database design firm that is paying for my college education. As a result, i employ a server based in the First American Title building in Riverhead, NY. The server itself is owned by myself, and is run piggyback off of the office OC/3. I've been speaking with tom, and id like to see what the site administrators think of hosting 4G through bionyx. Id be willing to do it at no cost, and i can offer an unlimted amount of bandwidth, storage, etc. On top of that, we can add things like user ftp folders for uploads, and user sites based off of 4G. It would also enable us to have better control over the forum software we employ, and allow more control over the content and software located serverside. I dont know...maybe this is the wrong place to make the post. Just let me know if theres any interest.

Well, since I recently switched to the 3rd generation, I'm not sure I really have much room to speak.. But considering my history with this community, I will anyway . Toyotaunderground is run on a server "owned" by a co-administrator. The problem is, he leases HUGE amounts of space from the mega-server, which is more reliable than a smaller server for lots of reasons. He runs www.orangepirhana.com, ratemedrunk.com, and a couple of other sites. Another co-admin runs www.autopixal.com, www.onlyguystuff.com, an internet advertising service, and a couple of others. It's crazy what these guys have done. Overall, as long as you allow FTP control to Tom and Jeremy, and swear to not attempt to overthrow everything, I don't see any problem with it. The problem is when the ownership changes, so will the ultimate control. It's great of you to offer this, though. I understand what it can do for this place from first-hand experience. I'm all for it. It's just a matter of convincing Jeremy... which may not take much at all. But for others who read this, it would definitely help.. this means we can partitian individual accounts for limited server space for members here.(at least, from what I understand, this is quite doable) Which I know is something many of you have been wanting. Actually.. we had this already with 4gencelica.net I had blacktorpedo.4gencelica.net. I used to host crap there all the time. It was a shame to see it gone. Chris Dittrick had one hell of a resource site on his 4gencelica account. He had his entire ST185 3sgte swap into his all-trac documented and explained there. It was amazing. He also started the quarter mile times list there. Boy how things have changed.. even the big constant.. Celica.net, is gone. *sigh*. so.. yeah.. I guess all that's left is an approval by Jeremy, and following that a public poll.

Sounds like a great idea, though I have no need for personal webspace I think having it will allow the community to develop more resources. Also it would be nice to run some real forum software....

What I'd like to see is the forum software, and the user accounts, as that will generate traffic. I'm still waiting to talk to Jeremy over this. I will tonight.

I have not talked to TOM yet. But I would like to know what kind of software is running your server, what connection you have. How easy is it to setup e-mail addresses & FTP access accounts. How reliable the server is, right now I have like 100% server uptime. Everything is super easy to control.
