Check your intake tube between the TB and the air box. It might be cracked. Also, moving to repair.

I'm going with Tom, it does sound like an air issue. To give you a better idea of any idea we may have, gonna need a much more detailed description. Tune up mods. . . you know; any changes good or possibly bad. Where was the car when it started with the problem? (I don't mean where on the road)

By the way, your fuel cut should not engage until a little into the red. So I doubt that is it. You can do away with it in the TPS if you want.

Like Tom said, check your bellows tube between MAF and throttlebody, they will dryrot and create pinholes allowing air to get in beyond the airflow meter. Since your engine was never intended to operate this way, it could very well be the cause of your problem. Aside from that, check your timing, and also the possition of your timingbelt relative to top dead center, if it's off it could change the engine performance enough to foul up up your engine management. Also any more info you could give on what the car is doing and/or not doing, would greatly help in diagnosing the problem. racerb

all of them it could be poor detonation that is only noticable at high rpm at the moment, timing advance gone wrong, or a million other things. definitely need more info like how does it run through the rest of the rpm range, any noises, recent relevant repair work?

Just for referance, my car ran fine until the upper RPM range (3.5K+) with a cracked intake tube.
