As you can see, I've been hard at work. Probably have another 20 hours of work to do on this side..but it's making good progress. Once I finish this.. I'll probably write up an article on making your own body kit. As it turns out, it isn't very difficult.. And yes. I know I'm crazy. But normal is boring.

As allways.. if you go here: www.garbled.net/tim/album/celica/index.htmlYou can see the full photo album of the celica. I usually update it weekly. Right now the body is nothing more than a huge pile of foam. Every day I go out there, and cover myself in a snow of yellow foam bits. I figure I've got about 10 or so more hours of carving on that side to finish it up. I'm still working out the shape of the body, kinda as I go. One thing that is nice about the foam stage, is that if I decide one section kinda sucks.. I can just refoam it, and try again.

Oh.. as for not paying out the ass to do it.. beware.. this isn't cheap. It looks decievingly cheap, but it's by far not.
Enough foam to do the whole car is about $300. Then, you have drywall mud, and primer, thats another 50-70. Then you need a cup gun for spraying tooling gel ($100 + 30 for the gel) and then probably about $100-150 in misc. fiberglass, and molding compounds. You will also likely need about $100 in misc. sanding, rasping, and measuring tools.
You might be able to get away without the cup gun.. and if you were doing a small modification, you can buy the foam in smaller quantities ($30 a cubic foot).
Mind you, it's all probably cheaper than a full blown body kit, and if you were doing a small enough modification, you could probably glass right onthe body rather than doing a mold.
But yeah.. yer welcome to come check it out. Dunno what point you want to actually see. Once the foam carve is done.. I'll be doing mudwork, then primer, then sanding to a gloss, followed by making molds out of fiberglass.
