I found out the other day that my GTS has a rod knock I have about 1000 dollars that i can put into it. What would be the best thing to do. I would like to get it running sometime after the holiday season. And i dont think i have the knowledge or the proper tools to do a rebuild.

Honestly, I'd do a rebuilt, and drop some $$ into a stronger motor, for a little more HP. Talk to bob, racerb, he knows his shit about N/A builds.
ps, i don't know if i should move to N/A or not.............

damn seems like we all got the rod knock now, must be something in the air. www.engineinstallation.com quoted me a j-spec 3s-fe exchange motor with <40,000 miles for $675. don't know about the 3s-ge but i don't think they are much more. anyways you might give a call just to give you an idea

Yeah i dont know if i want a JDM engine or not. But i would like a complete engine that has low miles that I can just drop in. I couldnt find any engines on engineinstallation.com, maybe i will give them a call.

yea you have to call them. almost nobody posts prices and inventory on the internet. hate to disappoint but you aren't going to find a usdm motor with less than 100,000 miles and even that is going to cost about $1000 which is waaayy too much. japanese exchange is the way to go. they have stricter laws that require them to replace the motors at 40000 so you are getting a motor that's still in good condition

Hey if it were up to me the JDM is the way to go, hell I've seen several listed for less than $500 bucks. Check the dealers I've posted in this forum, one of them has got to have something you can use.
racerb ;D

Yeah guys thanks for the info. I like that one that you found on ebay alot. And only 40,000 miles thats really low. I have looked i haven't been able to find a U.S. engine that has that low miles and definetly not for that price. If i do get a JDM i only need the engine and the ECU right? Will the wire harness thats already in my car work? THANKS
