As far as fitting crazy engines into cars.. You'd be surprised. Check out www.1uzfe.com He is putting a lexus V8 into a TE-27 Corolla. However.. I think your biggest problem will be mounting it transverse. I'm not sure exactly how you will manage to do that. All that being said, the 3000GT came stock with a FWD v6. The VR4 model was an AWD V6 TT. I think theoretically the FWD tranny would fit the VR4 engine, however, mitsubishi has a tendency to build thier trannies right on the edge of horsepower settings, so it may implode. I doubt that is a good way to go. The only real fun engines toyota makes are the 3T-GTEU, 3S-GTE, 2JZ-GTE, 1G-GTE, and the 1UZ-FE. Of those, only the 3S mounts transverse. Well.. if you had 16 grand you could get a formula atlantic engine I suppose.... Then again.. if you are willing to mash a giant engine in there.. I suppose you could just go all out and make it RWD.

there is a guy who swapped a mopar 318 into his ra64 celica and a couple of guys who swapped 1uz's into them also. there are a lot of crazy swaps into ae86's like s2000 motors and rotaries....if you want to do some crazy swapping then get something rear wheel drive becuase it will handle like shit and never fit in the front wheel drive chassis
