dose any one know the diference between the 8 and 6 bolt engine in a 1989 162t 3sge?? i had a 6 bolt in there and know it has a 8 bolt i dont know the diference

It's the difference on how many bolts that the flywheel has to connect it to the crankshaft.
The difference tends to be between the 3S-GE/GTE and the 2S-E/3S-FE I believe.

Hey when you check with different engine builders and JDM importers, they usually list which one they have. Like Tom said, it's referring to the number of flywheel bolts the engine has, I beleive all 3SGEs and 3SGTEs have them (8 bolts that is), where as the lesser engines have the 6 bolt setup. As with any Japaness manufacturer, there is always an exception to the rule, and there maybe a few 6 and 8 bolt engines that don't fit their exact profile. racerb

i have just looked at my 88 3SGE Jdm engine and there are 8 bolts on the flywheel.

From what I've seen in the Toyota Factory repair manual, it shows all engines with manual transmissioms as having the 8 bolt setup. The only 6 bolt in the book is on the automatic trans. drive plate, between the crank and the torque converter. If there is a manual with a 6 bolt flywheel, I can't find it. racerb
