Long story short, my GE has decided that it wants to rod knock. It's parked right now until it can be rebuilt, as I dont want to throw a rod threw the block. Anyways, I need some advice.... 1. How do I fix it? 2. What parts are recommended? 3. If I do light internal work, what is recommended? 4. What kind of cost are we working with? 5. What kind of gaskets are recommended. One last question. I can pull the engine out of the car and then push it back onto the street right? It doesn't need the axels in there to just sit on 4 wheels, right? I'm hoping to have the car back on the road by spring, with most of the work finished on it. ;D

Usually you'll have to pull the engine out as you can not pull the sump off with the engine in place. Once the engines upside down take off the sump and pull out the bigend bearings then the mains then pull out the crank. My advice is to get the crank balanced and ground about 20thou then get bearings that are the correct size from any auto shop (sorry I dont live in the US). Just replace it with all factory parts standard internals are very strong. Um cant think of anything else right now, give me a day or 2 to gather my thoughts haha

How do you recover from rod knock? Replacing all the bottom end components?

Sorry to hear about your GTS. How did it develope the rod knock? Just curious. Apparently engines need oil? I dunno, something along those lines. Short story; 1.5 quarts low (it leaks, gimme a break) and I was driving it. Jeremy - Damn dude. You just rebuilt that one.

Well i am very sad to hear Tom. You to Jeremy what happened? To much boost? I am hoping that the knock is cheap ar$$ gas. Sometimes - I think gas owners add water to make more revenue, but probably dew to condensation. Re-check for vacum leaks that too may cuz knocks, knocks.
Jeremy - if you need another wrencher - call.
