Hey guys it was just announced that a new roadcoarse is to be built just miles from my house. This new track is being called High Rock International Raceway, and will be built right off I-85 north maybe 10 miles from my home. They say it will be a world class facility, with a 2+ mile roadcoarse for sportscar and motorcycle racing. It is to be complete if all goes well with the county government, in 2006, or about the same time I'm hoping to have the GTS ready for the track. Just hope the county sees the benefits of this track as much as the rest of us do. racerb

Thats cool!!! A few years back Darrell Waltrip was getting rdy to buy some land in my city about 15 mins from my house and turn it into a hlaf mile oval track that nascar would race on, but the city got into it and the people that live around that area got upset at this and it got turned down.

I'm hoping that due to the fact it's being built on the site of a textile mill that went under years ago, and would bring jobs and lots of weekend visitors with money, that it would be a no-brainer. But it's like you said, sometimes the government can't see their nose right there on their face. These people wanting to build this facility already own the land and have the money to spend, all their asking for is a special use varience from the county. Their plans call for a textile museum, race team performance center, private chalets, and guest cottages overlooking the river which runs along the property, and even an RV park. They are just a few minutes from the NC Transportation museum, which would tie in well with a motorsports facility. We're keeping our figures crossed, and hope this really happens. racerb

Hey guys if you want to comer up to montana i own 500 acres of land that we built our own track on. well actually its our private road but it goes in a circle and its all curvey mountain roads and 2 straights that are about 1/4 and an 1/8 of a mile long. If you ever want to sanction an all 4th gen race i can host it. :-Xi charge the local kids with they're lame ass hondas to come race it and they usually end up sliding off the road becuz they try to take corners in a car with a completley stock suspension so its always a good time to watch em race. But my 86 Gt runs the track perfect without sliding, so we dont have to worry about it.

Hah, interesting 89NWK. You should post some pics. Is it paved or dirt? It'd be a fun as hell rally course if dirt. Montana's not that far. It'd be pretty fun to hit it up. ;-)

O man o mannnnn. All the new road tracks that are being built are so nice. Good luck with the fight Bob. When my flower shop starts making alot of money then I can take some time off and come over so we can race wheel to wheel at least once. We have no toyotas racing in IT here so I'm all alon against Hondas and VWs.

Hey maybe we could just meet in the middle of the country, you know the Run-Offs are moving to Topeka. Might not be a bad track for both of us to get to, and I'm sure they run Regional events there too. At the rate we're going here, theres going to be like 5 road coarses within 120 miles of my house. Right now the farthest we go is VIR, and it's just over 2 hours away.
