Hey is anyone going to the 24 Hrs. of Daytona, my wife and I are going and we wanted to know if we might see any of you there. I went on the Grand-Am site today, and there are 30 Daytona Prototypes entered this year, with testing going on this weekend. If you are interested their site is (http://www.grand-am.com), and there is a complete schedule of all events and lists of entries for the race. racerb

Hey I guess this just doesn't interest anyone, it's just that Toyota won the 2004 championship, with their cars marked as Lexus machines. The upcoming 2005 season will mark the return of Nissan to the prototype ranks, coming in as Infinity machines. What is really cool about this is it brings back the days of the Toyota vs. Nissan GTP wars of the 80s-90s. All the teams will be testing this weekend at Daytona, and I was able to spend some time with the guys at the Crawford shops today as they were loading up for the trip. In fact they were prepping the car that will be driven by Tony Stewart, while I was there, along with 2 other cars to be run at the 24.

I will be watching it on tv, Hopefully it's good as last year. That was quite the effort put in by Tony Stewert to get that car(almost) home

Hey it should be even more exciting, cause the DP class has over 30 cars listed, versas the 18 entered last year. It's looking like one of the best times in many years for fans of roadracing in this country, as Nascars popularity has kinda peaked. Also a lot of the older Nascar fan don't know what to think of all the changes Nextel has brought to the series, and are looking for other forms of racing to watch. racerb

Hey don't know if any of you caught the news out of Daytona 24 testing, but the car Paul Newman was driving spun and caught fire in Sundays test. The reports said he spun entering turn one and stalled the car, when he tried to restart the engine it caught fire. Newman escaped unharmed, but the car was reported as nearly destroyed. The interesting thing about his car, is it's #79 to reflect his age, even though he's actually 80, the #80 was already taken. racerb

Hey guys I was a little premature on saying PLN was 80, turns out he'll be 80 next month. But hell he's still way older than any other racer in Daytona this year. Also my number will be 98, just like the Toyota GTP cars of the 80s and 90s, plus it's an easy number to modify if I happen to not get it at one of our races. Thats the same reason I ran 88 on my last car, it made 38, 83, 80, and 08 easily. racerb

Hey the entry list is out for the 24Hrs, man theres a bunch of cars, and a hell of alot of talent. There are drivers from almost every form of racing in the world, including about 9 to possably 11 Nascar drivers. One car even has the last two Nextel Cup champions in it, Kurt Busch, Matt Kensith. racerb

Well guys the misses and I leave for Daytona in just a few more days, and man I'm I getting excited. She's off work today, and is going by the Crawford race shop, to talk with our freind Billy, just to see if he can get us in their garage area. I know this don't sound that difficult, but Billy crews for the car Tony Stewart will be driving in the 24, and my wife is like one of his biggest fans. Yeah she's got a lot of his stuff and most is already autographed, but has only got to actually talk to him once. Most everthing she has, was delivered to him by our freind C.C., who is Tony's PR lady and one of our best customers at the racetrack. If all goes as planned, and Tony is as successful in this years race, we might be with the winning crew in (VICTORY LANE) racerb

Well we didn't get to go to victorylane, not that we weren't invited, it was just to crowded for us. Our buds from the Crawford shops finished second and third overall in the 24 Hrs., with the #4 car of Jimmy Johnson and company finishing second and the #20 of Tony Stewart and co-drivers finishing third. We did get to spend alot of time with them all weekend but not one on one, as they were extremely busy most of the time. The wife and I did have one hell of a good time though, and did get autographs from all the Crawford drivers, but didn't get to meet Ashley Judd, who's the wife of Dario Francittie who drove the #2 Crawford. One thing we did was to get our 1/18 scale diecast #4 Crawford racecar signed by it's drivers, Jimmy Johnson, Elliott Forbes Robbinson, and Butch Leitzinger, affectivelly doubleing it's value if not more than double. I will try to get some pictures on line soon of our weekend in Daytona, just to show you all what you missed.
