I have a 86 celica with a 3s-ge. I race it at a 3/8th mile oval with low banking. I have had a horrible pushing problem since I started running it. And now that i have the new engine the additional power has made it worse. It really boils down to not even being able to use the extra power(completly chewed up a tire in a 2 practise sessions and a 20 lap dash). I have been researching ideas for setting up FWD and one was to get a bigger sway bar or anti-roll bar for the rear. This is supposed to reduce understeer. Anyone know of a bolt on? Also, Anyone know of any good books that might apply to circle track setup for fwd?

Hey Whiteline has a 19mm bar for our cars, there availible from Global Parts Source, they can be reached at www.globalpartssource.com, I bought mine from another member here on the site. I don't know about circle track, but on the roadcoarses, we disconnect the front bar and run the biggest bar we can find for the rear. Also what kinda spring rates are you running, Celicas are extremely heavy, might want to run as much as a 600-700 lb spring in the right front, maybe 400-500 in the right rear. You'll have to experiment with the left side, but most likely within 100-200 lbs of the right side. Are you able to set a lot of negative camber in the right front, if not you need a good set of camber plates, ones that give caster change also are best, dial in a good bit of possitive camber on the left. Also dial in about 1/8 to 1/4 inch toe out in the front, this will help turnin as you enter the corners, a slight bit of toe out or even 0 toe at the rear should help also. Are you running a limited slip, if so, that can also increase the understeer if the rest of the car is not set up right, with the limited slip, you can actually take a little negative camber out. Hope this helps alittle, and doesn't just confuss you more, alot of these things come from years of setting up frontwheel drive cars for roadracing, most should also work for circle track. racerb

thats some heavy facking spring tension.... for no kidneys left after using those. God that'd be great. A 4th gen with NO body roll.

racerb you ever here about these models having bumb steer issues? Just about any vehicle that has been lowered and doesn't have factory settings, will have some bump steer. Resetting the alignment, with caster can take out some of this bump rebound (steer). racerb

Resetting the alignment, with caster can take out some of this bump rebound (steer). racerb too bad its not like an ae86 or ra64 that have bump steer plates made for them to fix it by t3
