I don't know how closely you all follow Nascar, but once again tragedy has struck the series. On Sunday just before the start of the race in Martinsville VA, a plane owned by Rick Hendrick (Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson's team owner) crashed into a mountain just miles from the airport. On board where Ricky Hendrick (Rick's son), John Hendrick (Rick's brother), John's twin dauthers, Randy Dortin (cheif engine builder Hendrick motorsports), Tony Stewarts own pilot, plus the two Hendrick pilots, an executive from Dupont, and the president of Hendrick motorsports. The plane was full with 10 passengers on board, all were killed on impact. Jimmy Johnson won the race, but was not told of the crash until after the completion of the event. I drive past Hendrick motorsports quite often, as it is on my way to work each day, but now it is covered with flowers and cards from fans who just don't know what is next. For more info look at nascar.com, they have a special area just for this story. racerb

Sorry dude, didn't mean to steal any thunder, just hadn't seen it posted yet. This weekend my wife and I go to Atlanta to work the Nascar race, and as you can imagine we're not real keen on the idea. They say life most go on, but these were people we saw at the track several times a year. I just learned today, that one of the twin girls killed, had recently graduated from UNC-Charlotte where I work. Thanks for posting, as you said it's a sad time for many. racerb
