Im thinking of taking out my 3sfe and swapping in a 3sge motor... does anyone know what i will need to go with the motor besides the ecu and wiring harness? oh yea, are the mounts the same as the 3sfe?

Wrong forum...... Should of posted in All Motor Power.. Anywayz.... just the motor, ecu, and harness... Mounts on all S-series motors are the same.... That should be all you need... Well, except for elbow grease, some tools, and all that crap...

Moved to All Motor.
Tim pretty much said it all. It's decently easy.

Only issues you might run into will be with your exhaust system, may need to do some swapping around and/or fabricating to make it all work properly. Might want to check to make sure your brake system is up to the added performance of the 3SGE, she might really go, but not really stop. Check booster, pads, rotors, shoes, and drums (unless you've already done a rear disk swap), cause they need to be in better than good condition.

Is the long block you are using a complete assembly, or just a stripped down/bare engine, that will require all your standard peices to be swapped. How it all goes togather, is dependent on what comes with the long block, and what must be found and/or replaced when installing. It will go much smoother if you have 2 complete engine assemblies to start with, if for no other reason than as reference. racerb

The exhaust manifolds and intake manifolds are different between the two engines. You can use the FE's exhaust manifold in place of the GE's header, but you want the intake manifold off of the GE due to it having T-VIS. The exhaust systems look to be the same after the flex pipe, but up to there they are different.

Why don't you try calling some wreckers (aka junk yards)?? There are a couple near where I live that have pretty complete GT-S's.

Finally, I found me a 3sge for a good price... $395 with the external EGR ... or $495 with a internal EGR... which one do you guys think I should get? By the way it comes as the whole motor

Hey sounds like you've been talking to Toysport, just make sure they can sell you the ECU and harness for your application. As far as the EGR goes, the internal verses external, is more or less model year dependent. The EGR on my '87 is external, I don't know it for a fact, but I beleive the internal units are mostly on later models including second, third, and forth generation 3SGE engines. racerb
