i'm thinking about yanking my 2se. now i'm not doing a fancy swap, i'm just planning on sticking in a low mile 2se or 1se (1.8L)
anyone know if there are any problems with putting in a jdm 1se with the stock 2se harness and ecu? from what i understand it's sposed to be basically interchangeable.
also...about yanking the engine...how annoying is it? i've never done a pull before.
thanks

hehe...yeah, i'd like to. but it's just too much to do wiring and such. this has to be a quickish and relatively easy swap, as it's just to be the winter/commuter car. which also means, as good gas mileage as possible. hence the 1se idea.

a 2se won't use much more gas...
and It would be less hassle I would imagine... meh

yeah i know. i don't care if i get a 1se or 2se. but the jdm engine importers have alot more 1se's than 2se's, and they're cheaper, and supposed to be same wiring and everything.
however, i'm checking out a 2se at a junkyard with a timing issue...if it was just a belt and everything else is good, it'll be a deal at 250 bucks. 80k miles on it.
and i just got an email back from an importer. he has a jdm (so 30-50k) 1se, for 500 shipped. including a 6 month warranty.

believe me, out of all the 2se's in the junkyards around here, it's close to the cheapest...with ones more expensive not even running and/or having about twice the miles.
yes, i may be able to get it lower still. but that's not bad comparitively speaking.

ohio
if it helps any to know who i am, i'm himura kenshin on celica.net....or one of my 500 other names i've gone through over there.
anyway...he told me it has a miss, and may just need a tune up, but that he recommends a new timing belt before installing...which i would do anyways, because it's 500x easier without it in the car. i'm going to see if it comes with any sort of warranty that it'll at least work proper.
but it's only 1 1/2 hours away, so if they still have it in the car, i can check it out. he said it's in really good condition besides that. we'll see.

2se, 3S-FE & 3S-GE all get good gas mileage just swap in a 3S-GE, if you find a GTS at a junkyard you don't need to do any wiring, just pull the wiring from the GTS & plug it in with the 3S-GE!

Heck, you can add a 3S-FE for that price. Slightly more HP and torque.
