I know this is my second new thread w/i 5 min, but i didn't want to put it in my other thread, two compleatly different topics. anyways, seeing as the speakers in my 89 GT are all 3.5", i want to upgrade to 6x9 in the back, and 6x8 in the front if possible. If this is possible, could somebody please give me an idea of how to do this?? I'm thinking in the back of taking some 6x9 boxes, and mounting them where the factory box speakers are, or just cutting a hole in the panels, and mounting the speakers or the boxes in there. The front I'm thinking of removing the speaker boxes and grills, and just placing the speakers in the empty holes, and using the grills w/ the new speakers. any suggestions would be appricated, or if anybody has done this, PICS would be very helpful for the guy going for sound comps.

WHy would you want to run 6X9's ?? a good 6.5" component system will sound way better. Also technically they are not 3.5" speakers they are a special size called 4T I was looking in a crutchfield catalogue & a couple companies do make 4T's. But seriously I would get a set of 6.5 boston component with 1" tweaters it will sound 10X better than 6X9's

The 6.5's wouldn't need a lot of modding the speaker holes then right?? i don't think that it's much work to fit those in. a dremel could probaly do the job.

Exactly, any oval speaker is a terrbile design, u'll get far better performance out of 6.5's. My advice to you (being an audio guy in nz) is to upgrade the 3.5's to a 2 way speaker, buy a set of 4 inch components, mount the 4inch woofer where the old one was and run the tweeter off the crossover for the 4inch. Then mount a factory size speaker in the rear and use a 10 inch sub for the bass. This is the clearest system you will get and it utilises all the factory acoustics in the car. *sigh* the number of times I have to tell people this

Bah. I ran 2-way 3.5s" in the front, 5-way 6x9s in the rear, and a 10" sub in the trunk in my GT conv. I've never heard nicer sound in a car than that.

thats where i'm confused.
i had a civic hatchback with 2 10s in the hatch, no rear speakers, and 2 6.5 component alpine type R up front, and that car had a kicking system.
i just want to find out what is teh best system for the 4th gen celi. figured i bitch out and ask the experts of these cars.
