Hey guys, i'm new to this forum. I live in Dunedin New Zealand and have owned my 86 Celica GT-R (GTS in america) for almost a year now. I've done a heap of work to it, new supension, new engine, rims and tyres, and even made my own white gauges! Is anyone else from NZ??? i've seen heaps of Gen4's crusing round just wandering if i can get hold of anyone? You aussies are my next closest friend as you also have the steering wheel on the correct side I've got pics of my car but not sure how to post them?

Im hoping to swap a whole 3SGTE in cos it will be alot more reliable and in the long term would be cheaper. Mostly influenced by a mate with a ST182 with 3SGTE

woohoo!!!! more nzers! yea havnt been on here for a while and what better to do at 2am pissed as fuck than cruise onto some forums! No point turboing a 3SGE people, standard internals can only just handle 250hp and a turbo's pushing on those limits and soon you'll have conrods flying through your head. Best look out for a 3SGTE but shit theres no series 1 SGTE's in NZ ay, all have been scrapped, its not hard to come buy a series 2 tho, and if u get an ST185 front nose cut the swap can easily be done. Well thats my 2c worth of yabbering on the turbo issue. Anyone from the sunny south island??? quite lonely down here lol

yea u'd be surprised how easy an ST185 swap is, although you need basically a whole front cut as the loom and other little plugs are all in different places. Infact even an ST165 swap will need a front cut too, as the loom is different again. Gearbox is the next issue with a 3SGTE, as i've had no experiance with 3SGTE's i have no idea what to do here but there are loads of people on the net with turbo knowledge that could help you out.

A gearbox that can be used is one from a ST202 Celica (6th gen) and comes with LSD standard, and will hold up for quite a while.

i still say bugger the turbo idea and put a series 3 3SGE from an ST202 one of those would dick on a series 1 3SGTE, and without the reliabilty issues. just another question....has anyone else lowered there celica in NZ? i've used king lows in mine (with new shocks all profesionally put in and tuned) but the front still hits the bloody bumpstops it fucks me off but nothing can be done as far as i know...anyone else hit the bumpstops recently?
