bleh, I'm now seriously worried about what I have to do with/before the swap...My three main worries are...
1) My car is an automatic. Do I need to get a manual swapped in before/with? My main worry about that was not the horsepower/torque but the controlling of the auto tranny. Does the 3sgte ECU control the auto tranny, or do I need to use the 3sfe ecu for that or what?
2) The exhaust pipe....do I need to get a custom downpipe or something installed so the 3sgte will bolt on to the exhaust or what? Is the pipe in the correct position and stuff?
3) Fuel lines? Do I need to get bigger fuel lines from the gas tank or something? or does just a better fuel pump work?
#1 is my biggest worry because I know NOTHING about transmissions except for what they do as a whole, and swapping in a manual tranny means paying $ for someone else to do it unless I can get my uncle to help me.

Ok.. 1. If you get the clip(half-cut) it will come with the whole front half of the car. Engine, tranny, and everything you'll need for the swap. If you are going turbo, what's the point of automatic??? Live a little, have fun, redline, burnout.. shit like that. 2.I would also upgrade the exhaust. once again, the half-cut may have the down pipe attached, but you can always have a shop custom make a exhaust. You are already gonna dump 1k+ on the swap, why not spend another 200 bux for an upgraded exhaust system? 3. No, don't need bigger lines, just a fuel pump and prolly some better injectors.(the st/gt injectors don't even come CLOSE for use with a GTE engine). Hope that helps, again... I'm not god, that's just what I know about these engines.

Yes, you will have to swap. The 3S-GTE cannot control an automatic transmission, unless you go stand alone. 2. Everything after the flex pipe is ok, everything before it, yeah, you need new. That's essentially a new downpipe + flex pipe. That's not THAT expensive. With that said, if you do go with a turbo engine, you might as well open up the exhaust and do a 2.5 or 3 inch all the way back. 3. Yes, you will need a fuel pump. The bigger injectors will come with the engine. 3S-FE Injectors - 295cc/min 3S-GTE Injectors - 440cc/min That's it in a nutshell.

if you are going through all the trouble of swapping the motor....why cut yourself off with an auto tranny?

if you are going through all the trouble of swapping the motor....why cut yourself off with an auto tranny? I wouldn't have the slightest idea HOW to swap the tranny... I have no idea if the s53 has the same tranny mounts...how to do the pedals, and how to insert the gearbox and do the wiring/cabling whatever for all that. I'd probably have to find out from my uncle if he can help me with it, but I was hoping I'd be able to stick with the auto till I could get the car to someone to swap it out for a manual.... My idea now is to do the whole thing motor + tranny+manual swap if I can get someone to help me with the tranny.

If the 3S-GTE came out of a Celica, none of what you posted applies. If the 3S-GTE came out of an MR-2, then all of that applies.

So now if I was able to get ahold of a harness from a US-spec 3sgte for a 90-93 alltrac I don't have to worry about the jspec wires being on the wrong side or does the engine have to be US spec too? And pretty much the only other question I really have about the swap itself is the wiring/mixing harnesses...is it basically like that certain plugs on the 3sgte harness will be different than devices already in the bay they supposed to connect to so I must cut them from the old harness and soldier it to the gte harness kinda thing? Like for example an RCA plug compared to a headphone plug kinda deal? or what? And I guess...does an s53 fit on the same tranny mounts as the 3sfe auto tranny does or do I need to find some at a u-pull-it for the s53...or is there a better tranny for the swap...i'm sure Jeremy might have a good idea of what I should put in it...especially if i plan on modding it to over 300+ hp later on
