what all would a person need to do a 3sfe to 3sgte swap? I'm not an expert, but off of the top of my head.... First, you have a 86 ST, are you sure that you have the 3S-FE? The car should have come with the 2SE engine. As for what you need: 3S-GTE (probably a ST165 or 1st gen 3S-GTE, anything else and wiring becomes a problem. A transmission that will fit (turbo MR2 tranny or I think a S-53 will work. ECU/Wiring harness for the 3S-GTE. That's it in a nutshell. If you really want to do the swap, it would probably be better for for you to get a ST165 front clip and then get a transmission that will work. I haven't done this swap myself, so this list is just a starting point.

Yeah, get a front clip. The reason why, you will have to get so manny little brakets and dodads that it will make you go crazy if you try to source them your self.
Fuel pump MAF Down pipe Ecu Motor(up to you what gen you want) Tranny(3sge tranny should work) And all the little tune up parts you could ever think of.
