I know back a bit someone posted a pic of how to do the CAI mod...my question about it is...is there a safe way to widen the hole without an expensive plasma cutter or something...I wanna do it myself but don't have many tools. I'm probably going to widen it enough so I can put the accordion tubing from the MAF bracket up to the hole and something solid behind the wheel well...but I'm not sure which way to face the air filter, and weather or not to possibly make vents in the quarter panel(?) which I thought would probably look cool and original....maybe have them face the other way to prevent splashing....or are vents a bad idea there?

so you used a hammer and a 2x4 to widen the hole? or you used pliers or what?

I'm still waiting for someone to post some proven results that this makes any difference at all. Something like a before and after dyno-pull, or 1/4 mile times. I'm not convinced that this is a better way to get air into the engine. Sort of like adding an extension to a 6" long straw to drink from a 3" tall glass, it will work but requires more effort.
My thoughts are that the filter area of the stock air-box is more than enough to feed the small openning in the MAF. Just create a larger hole in the stock location of the air-box and run a bigger tube into the box and use a K&N style low restriction filter.

Well, I currently have the ram intake with the bracket and stuff...and I'm gunna probably do the conversion next thursday or friday so I can find a place to test my 0-60 or something(highway) before and after...if I can't I can tell you if it feels like it made any difference. 15 bucks extra to convert my flipin ram air i payed too much for to a cold air is worth it to me... I payed $100 for the ram intake, which I coulda done myself....the jerk told me he "couldn't fit it" for a cold air so he charged me for doing the ram air...didn't ask if I just didn't want to have it done, and told me before he started he was sure he could do the cold air. So...for that breather deal for a cold air...do I just buy one of those breather filters and put it somewhere on the tube under the hood?
