88 Celica GT - I am about to tackle installing aftermarket Water Temp, Volt, and Oil Pressure gauges. (yes, pointless....but attractive!) I was wondering if (since the stock sending units are functional) I could use the existing sending units...or if I would have to use the supplied aftermarket units....Or, better yet, since the gauges on the stock console are functional...can you run a split from the dashboard gauge inputs? Let me know if anyone has tried this...or can offer some advice. Thanks! PS - Where is the sending unit for water temp?

You'll definitely want to use the sending units supplied with the gauges, as they can send out different voltages, etc. Also, those gauges aren't useless...cars' stock gauges aren't very exact most of the time. Aftermarket gauges are definitely way better for monitoring the engine than the factory gauges. I'm not sure where to install any of the sending units, however. The voltmeter install is incredibly easy though. Oh, and welcome to the site! ;D

Is it the standard triple gauge cluster that I see everywhere? If so, then a LOT of people fit them in the "pocket" left when you insteall an aftermarket head unit. I should probably do the same soon. -Jason
