Hey Racerb: Re: Fender Extension. I want to flare out my fenders so that header air can be vented out from the engine bay. something like the ENZO front fenders. To do this, the fender support needs to be extended by 4 inches. This will flare out the fender making it look pretty wide. I was going to do it but my local weld shop here wants 40 dollars each side for parts and labor to weld the extended fender bracket. Im not being cheap I dont want it to be a pernament weld to my fender. Fender is held by two nut last i remember.

heh.....sounds like fun. I am doing this with my 85gt but I'm doing it all myself with a bunch of sheet metal, welder, and bondo just so that watanabe rs8's will fit without smacking my fender wells

Hey guys I'll try my best, from what I understand, it looks like with stock fenders, only the rear of the fender near the bottom can be spaced out. The other alternative, would be fiberglass fender flairs, that could be molded off your stock fenders and given extra depth at the rear, to hold mesh screening.

Its a small plate like your maf supporters but, shorter with 10mm bolts two on each side. The bolts are located behind your front wheels that hold the rear part of the front fenders. I dont have the demension to make you a cut out. But if you eye ball it how your bottom fender connects it estimated demension will be 4 by 2 inches. I figured you would take apart your fender for the research and development. I was just giving you an idea along with your maf support. This method is better than making a whole fibre glass mold when u can use a 2 by 4 plate.

if you wanted to design it yourself without screwing up your car you could buy a set of fenders from a junkyard for cheap and mess around with those....besides don't the fenders....at least the front ones only take like 3-4 bolts to remove? And once you have the design you wanted it shouldn't be hard to duplicate.

I don't think it can be done and made to look right without either welding new sheet, making a FG repro fender, or doing a WB kit on the front. If you just kick the bottom out a few inches.. it will look rather bizzare I would think. I don't think having the bottom come outwards would look right, as its so smal on the fender down there, only about 3-4 inches of sheet there.
I can't personally picture a way it would look right. Maybe instead you could square the bottom off of the rear of the front fender, and make a vent like that. Thats what I'll be doing to mine probably.

Hey guys I got some material in today that looks like it will work just right, give me a few days of tinkering and I'll put togather a prototype. Joel like I said, I'll send you an advanced prototype for you to try, and to give me feedback on, may need tweeking to get it just right.

JEREMY Someone said earlier why dont we have girls and cars posted... eh? How are you getting the measurements w/o taking off your fenderin the rear. If you are taking it off to unbolt the rear fender bolts test your first. Either way I will test the prototype, just wanted to save the few bucks delivery. Considerations - becaused it flared out the plate spacer will be a slightly long Parallelogram(A parallelogram has two pairs of congruent parallel sides and two pairs of congruent angles).. just some tinking. Lastnite I spaced out my fender with a webster dictionary from the bottom. Looks pretty good. Just remember me when you wax.

Hey Joel, I'm working with my racecar chassis, which at present has no fenders on it, I'm reataching them just for measurements and test fitting. Same way I test fit airdams and splitters.
