just wondering how to tell (safely) if there's pressure in the system. and if so...is there a way to discharge it at home?
i figure since i'm yanking the engine i may as well ditch the a/c
any info is appreciated

as for the pressure, i'm pretty sure that there's a little pin you can push in on the compressor line, so you can relieve the pressure..like a tire

2 reasons 1- money...i don't want to buy another compressor...and find out what the problem was besides it, and bother converting it...it's just a beater. 2- ditching it saves a few pounds, and may gain me 1 hp...and on a 2se, a gain of 1 hp is quite a gain

just crack one of the lines loose, if it starts (what the hell is that word) uhhhh making a pshhhhhh sound help me out what is the word? "sissing" comes to mind but I know its not that.....anyways if it starts doing that then tighten it back up and rest assured there is pressure in the system, quite possibly just a tiny bit and not enough for the system to work but it'll tell you if its fully discharged or not

There's also an access port that's on the right side of the engine bay. You can depress the pin in that for the same effect as unscrewing the line. Really doesn't matter how you do it if your not going to have the system in the car.
