Hello to all. I am new to celicas, (I am a die hard RX-7 and rotary engines guy) and I have been using my 87 gt-s as a daily driver for some time now, and i just had a catastrophic electrical disaster!. I fixed a starter problem and after the car started up i noticed that one of the spark plug wires was not fully seated on the spark plug so I immediately shut the engine off. To my shock and horror the starter wire was cooking itself as well as few other wires going to the battery. aftermath: I changed the battery (I think it exploded, there was a little acid of the top of it and it stayed warm for a long time), and the main 80 amp fuse, then when I re-attached the battery cables i got a slight spark from the negative cable, and nothing. no interior lights, exterior lights no eletrical nothing. i put the key in the igniton, turn it to on, then start, and nothing, the car is dead. Is ther another main fuse or something. what else could cause there to be no eletrical system with the battery fully connected? The ECU fried maybe, is there a main relay or something. please help, this was my daily driver so i am forced to drive my wifes PT cruiser now (yuck!!!).

If you did get a slight spark, then something must be drawing current, so I would assume that at least something past the main fuse is okay.
For what it's worth, while doing the starter mod, I noticed that the +12V supply to the starter motor appears to have no fuse... which could be a problem if it ever is shorted to chassis.
You might use a voltmeter at the fuse terminals to make sure you have voltage there. Check to see if there is +12V at the EFI fuse (I'm guessing there won't be).

thanks for the help
Ok i'll look into it. I wont be able to do anything for a couple of days unfortunately, i had to evac for hurricane dennis. So if there is no power at the EFI fuse what would that indicate? Like I said there is absolutely no power going to anything and the battery is connected, and I changed the main 80 amp fuse.

From the diagram in the BGB...
It's a process of elimination; if there is no power at the EFI fuse, you limit the problem to the fusible link labeled "FL 0.85R".
There are actually 3 feeds from the battery: 1. FL 0.85R (not sure where this is) that feeds the EFI system 2. 80A fuse, after which is a 40A fuse-- check this too-- which feeds a bunch of stuff before and after the ignition switch 3. 30A fuse, which feeds injectors/igniter when the engine is running
If the interior dome light isn't working, you have a problem with the 80A fuse, the 7.5A DOME fuse, the wiring or the battery.
