I really want to get the a/c working on my celica, as far as I know the thing just hasn't been charged in ten years. Buying R-12 is out of the question, so I have to do a R-134 conversion. Has anyone done this? Cause I haven't got a damn clue. My car is an '89 with climate control if it matters. Thanks.

Done, and it blows ice cold. After the r12 is gone you just idle the car and fill it with one bottle of oil, then like one and a half bottles of coolant. It was pretty brainless except for determining the system's capacity (thanks Jeremy).

Wow.
So all you have to do is get a professional to drain your current (freeon?) and then you can buy the new stuff and add it yourself?

it's always best to vac your system down to as close to 29.9" hg before adding oil & freon because that will remove all the possible contaminates & moisture in the system.
