Hi
I have power steering fluid dripping from the boot on my steering rack.
Does anyone know if there is a kit available to recondition the steering rack or can the boot be replaced.
I am hoping not to have to buy a new rack.
Any help would be grateful please
Thanks

If you have fluid leaking from your boot , then the seals inside are worn and your rack needs to be replaced. If you dont need power steering, just cut the pump belt and bam you got manual steering. Thats what I did a year to my rack when it was leaking.

Chhers mate but I got big 17" wheels on my Celica so I would need power steering. Our cars over here in ireland have to go throught a strict yearly test called a MOT and it failed because of the leak.
Looks like I gonna have to get anew rack then. Its a pitty you can't buy new seals off Toyota and replace them without having to repalce the whole rack.
Anyway thanks for your help.
I hope to have pix of my Celica soon just when i figure out how to post them. I just got a digital camera so I have no excuse now

actually you can just buy new seals & rebuild the rack but it requires some special tools to pull the rack plug out to be able to get inside the rack. the tool can actually be built with a bandsaw & a chunk of aluminum. That's what I did. I have rebuilt about 5 racks now.
