Thanks for the replys, i dont know if it will rattle or not yet but i dont think it will because i wrapped all contacts between the speakers and the mounts with electrical tape and/or rubber grommet looking thingies to minimize any rattling/loosening that could occur. Besides any car will rattle if you turn it up loud enough Well IMO dropping the 6x9s in the coupe rear factory speaker locations has been one of the best mods ive done so far cause they sound really good. I used to have the speakers in walmart boxes behind the front seats but i got tired of having to move them everytime someone sat in my back seat so i opted for this. Basically what you do is you tear the rear factory cardboard cover off and try to keep it intact cause you will need it to make an outline onto a wooden board(i used cedar, very light and strong, bought it at home depot, $5) I recommend using the wood cutting bit with the dremel to cut up the wood since it was very easy and accurate to do. Then you cut big squares on the metal speaker mounts until the speakers sit all the way down and then you place the board in place, make it fit, and measure where the speaker holes are going to go and cut. I went to hobby lobby and got me some black fabric that looks very nice and smooth and i sprayed the board with adhesive glue and foiled it with the fabric. I placed it on a flat surface, put some books on it and let it dry. Once dry, i cut any excess fabric and then bolted the speakers onto the board and placed it in. I noticed some vibration with the board so i took it out and placed little foam squares every six inches or so along the line of contact between the board and the metal. They both sound pretty good cause they use the trunk as a box creating alot of good bass. Ill post pics tommorrow of the end result once i get more light.

imo the trunk or glovebox isn't really going to help act as box but i'm too lazy to support my claim. lol anyway yea i wasn't worried about the contacts rattling it was all the flat plastic like the glovebox and the interior panels near it. my 3.5 cause problems at the right volumes and frequencies, i'd definitely look in to some dampening up front. looks like you did another good job in the back keep it up and get a sub!

i think this is as far ill go with my audio system considering that more speakers and amps will slow me down even more. Right now im gonna help out my dad with his project. he's gonna paint his celi.

Do you think if I wanted to use 4x6's instead of 6x9's that I wouldnt have to cut the whole in the glove box? Or are 4x6's too small to try to use in the speaker mounts?
I dont mind cutting the speaker mounts but the glove box I just dont wanna cut a big ass whole in.

yeah i think they could fit without having to cut the glove compartment, although you might need to trim the speaker mounts, its not too hard though IMO.

nice work there buddy - but one question
why did you not just go with a nice set of 5.25" splits or coaxials - they couldve been made to fit -
ive currently got a set of 6" coaxial which the previous owner put in there - but ive only had the car for 3 days now and ive already got to work on the system
ive installed 2 12" cerwin cega subs - using the existing front speakers and a set of kenwood 6x9s with 2 amps - one 400wrms 4 ch and another 300wrms 2 ch - im gonna replace the fronts with only 4 inch component splits with the tweeters mounted on top of the air vent externally - im also going to make some fibreglass enclosures for the 4 inch mid to house some of the mid range level and smoothen the frequency response
reason for the timid stereo is this will be my daily driver
i have another project car (holden gemini 1984 model rwd with a 2.8 litre turbo ) that will be getting 4 15" subs, four 6x9" split components (with separate active crossovers for each), Hertz 3 way setup up front (8" 4" 1") and two compression horns under the dash powered by 2 500wrms amps and one 1800wrms into 1 ohm amp
