My DVD/CD etc. player only makes the faintest noise at the speakers at full volume. (with ear right up to speaker).
My setup is stock - 2 original front speakers only (10watt each). I'm only interested in getting some sound!
I'm guessing my DVD player/receiver requires an Amp., but the user manual is hopeless. I was hoping there would be enough power output to at least get some sound
Perhaps with the following Audio Analogue output rating someone can tell me what the problem is: it's a 4.1channel, Dolby AC-3 or DTS Downmix, 2 Vrms (@1khz).
Any ideas?

Assuming that you haven't, go back and check all of your connections. Both at the speaker and at the unit. If the problem is the same, get some decent front speakers. They don't cost much, less than 50 for a pair. If that doesn't help, get a decent amp and go from there.
