Anyone know where to get one in the US, and approximately how much they cost? Note I'm asking for a 3T-GTE, NOT a 3S-GTE. It's not a typo. (This isn't for a celica)

All I can say is good luck to you. Venus Auto has one (not sure of the price) but it looks like it has been sitting outside for a few years and it looks like it's missing some parts. Any other importer i talked to said that the engine is really hard to get and that it would be very pricey. But search around, you might have better luck

I know there are other engines I could use.. but there is just the cool factor of having a real 3T-GTEU in there...
I wonder if a 3S motor could be converted to mount in a RWD configuration, like maybe to a w55 type gearbox... I guess that would be my second choice.

the 3T-GTE produced almost 500hp & was used in the IMSA GTO CELICA they are extremely rare engines. If you find one with even a harness you are damn lucky.
The 3S-GTE can be used in a RWD platform. TOMS CASTROL SUPRA, TOP SECRET SUPRA, many other 4th gen Supras opt for a 3S-GTE for race spec cars because they are lighter than the 2JZ but specifically the JDM TOYOTA ALTEZZA IS200 uses the 3S-GE in RWD platform & you could order mounts & brackets for it, and bolt them to the 3S-GTE.

Produced 500 HP! What the hell did they put them in!!! The stock version produces 160hp. The 2 litre 4t-gte was used in the group B rally 3rd gen Celica. A highly modified(but still recognisable[sp]) version was used in the 8xC group C prototype sports cars that by the time the 88C came out the engine produced 700hp from 2.1 litres, and it had to last for a 24 hour race! Later it was used in the IMSA celica and by the 90's the racing engine was discontinued.

There's a guy on celica-gts.com who imports engines.. he says he sometimes has them. You'd have to dig a ways back in the pictures forum to find it, though. I think the title of his thread was "my sick ride" or something of the sort.
