Hey everyone, what's up?
I've been doing a lot of thinking, talking, and planning with a few Northwest people in the last couple days, and I've been thinking that it would be pretty cool to start up a new website for northwest Toyota enthusiasts. People could meet fellow Toyota lovers in their area, meets could be planned with ease, people could buy and sell parts locally, vendors/dealers/businesses could maybe offer club discounts, etc.
Personally, I think that a site like this could have a lot of potential and could be very helpful to Northwest Toyota owners.
So here is what I'm thinking the site could consist of.
Home Page
An introductory paragraph or so telling visitors what the site is all about, any big news regarding large meets or updates, overall member information, and some more stuff would go on the home page. It wouldn't be anything real special, but the whole site would have a nice look and feel to it.
Member Registration/Profiles
People could register on the site with information about their car(s), their location, photos of their Toyota(s), etc. Zip codes could be entered into a user's profile, and with a zip code in their profile, a member could find other members based on distance from them. Also, city and state could be entered, and members could search for other members by city and state. Once registered, a member would have a section called "Your Garage," or something along those lines. If a member owned a Toyota, they could add their Toyota to their garage, with information, modifications, photos(with searchable captions), and more. If a user had multiple Toyotas(a lot of us do), they could have multiple cars in their "garage."
Members' Toyotas Listing
Members' Toyotas would be listed in a section of the site, and could be sorted, filtered, and searched by car model, year, color, modifications, username, number of photos, photo captions, registration date, city, state, zipcode, etc. Each car detail page would display basic information(year, model, color, transmission, body style, etc.), modifications(engine/tranny/performance, suspension/brakes, exterior, interior), photos of the car if they exist, a link to the member's profile(and other Toyotas, if applicable), etc.
Forums
The forums would be integrated with the site, and possible forums include General Discussion, Technical Chat(modifications and such), Meets/Events, Motorsports(Track days, autocross, drift events, etc.), Buying/Selling, etc. More forums could be introduced as the number of members and forum posts increased.
Calendar
A calendar could be introduced, with meets, motorsports events, etc.
None of this would really be too hard, and I do have experience with developing car websites. My website that's most representative of my work is probably 6G Celicas.
So far that's kind of what I've been thinking about. It's all just in my head right now, and I'd love to hear what you all think. Would you visit and use a site like this frequently? What would you want a site like this to have?
You can reply here, or email me at ccoomer@marq.net (work) or ccoomer@6gc.net (home), or IM me(my AIM screen-name is YelliCeli), or whatever. I'd love to hear what all you Northwest Toyota enthusiasts think about this. ;D
