Shit, just get a salvaged tranny. That's what I did when mine died on me. $200 for the tranny, and you can install it yourself. Hell of a lot cheaper than a '98 3000gt.

the thing is i just dropped a grand this month on her. i cant keep puttin money into somthing that keeps breaking. ive found the 3000gt for 6500 with a 5 year 100000 mile warrenty on it. that seems like the better deal to me. i got the money saved up so why not? its cleaner, no rust no dents, and faster. i dont see the problom.

Is this an SL, or a VR-4? I can argue ALL day against a VR-4........and longer against an SL. Then think of insurance. Your young right? Yeah, think of insurance. You don't have to keep the Celica, but a 3KGT isn't the best option.

we're not dogging you. Just warning you that a DSM is more maintenance hassle than your 4th gen. It's pretty common knowledge, I thought.
I would avoid DSM like I would avoid Chrysler... and that's a lot of avoidance. Not because I don't like the cars.. I really do.. but I don't like putting up with that much cost in maintenance.

well i didnt know dsm was so expensive....ill have to look into that. www.dsmtalk.comwww.dsmtuners.comwww.3si.com, I think. Google that one. They break.......often. GREAT weekend cars. GREAT cars to have fun with. Not good cars as far as reliablity is concerned. Just consider that the transmission on a VR-4 (it's a well known weak spot of the stock drivetrain) costs 6k to replace. Swap the Celica, and don't put money into things that aren't broken on it. You'll thank me later......trust me. I thought about getting a 7th gen. I would have had to have taken out a car loan for close to 15k, plus my insurance would have raised to astronomical levels. Thank GOD that I didn't, as I was laid off in April. The total monthly payments would have been at the 700 to 800 mark for the car and insurance, with my parents cosigning (and they have great credit ratings). I'm 18, it's just not worth it. Not to mention, the SL (N/A FWD version) is as slow as your GTS.
