Hey looks like we are pretty much going to have the same set up. I have a st or gt (whichever the 2s-e came in) and I am dropping in the 3s-ge. Mine is for circle track. (ministock).. How much does it cost you'all to race a weekend and where to you do it at? I am going to stick with the st/gt suspension though. Not a huge focus on breaks and it seems easier than swapping everything. I am hoping that the axles will work with the 3s-ge trans. Any suggestions. My weight with the 2s-e setup in it last year was I think 2250 with driver. It is completely gutted. I am working on getting it down to 2100 with driver but pretty confident I will not get it there.

Hey we will run Virginia Internation Raceway, Lowe's Motorspeedway, Road Atlanta, North Carolina Motorspeedway, Roebling Road Raceway, and maybe even Atlanta Motorspeedway. It cost between $175- 350 for entry fees, tires for a season, roughly $1000-1500 if you have to buy more, we run the the Toyo Proxes RA-1s and they just never seem to wear out, just get harder. We run 93 octane pump gas, so fuel ain't a major expense, and we use like Hawk off the shelf brake pads, so thats resonible too. Our competion rules say the GTS with driver has to weigh 2615 or nearly what the stock car weighs, but that means the car empty can weigh 2435, so thats what we're shooting for. Yeah the ST and GT both had the 2SE in 86, but I end up with a GT from E-bay, so it's the racecar chassis, plus it has solid roof, no electric anything and it's straight, no damage. racerb

I didnt know they did circle track racing with a FWD car. Why not just go with 84 Celica Supra RWD.

Yeah we have several classes in our area, including a purestock class called the Hornets, that are mostly all frontdrive cars. They put on a really good show and are usually faster than the reardrives in the class. racerb

Hey just brought home a new parts car with a JDM 3SGE and Koni shocks already on it, this puts my project back on track for a better completion date. Lot less time will have to be spent soarcing parts now, as I've already got what I need in one neat package. racerb

Hey Racerb have you gotten your engine swapped yet? I am having a problem matching up some vacuum lines. Was wondering if you might have some advice?

No I've been too busy working on the house and going to the racetrack to get anything done on the car. Hope to get on it some this week though, as I've still got some items to remove from the GT, so I can get the cage installed. WORK WORK WORK WORK racerb

Racerb, After alot of reading and research it is finally in and running. I will be breaking it in this weekend and hoping everything runs well, will be racing. By the way with the vacuum lines they were all emissions. My class allows for this stuff to be removed so just plugged everything off. Had a real problem with the cams though the engine shop put them in backwards. Intake in Exhaust. Pain in the ass set me back a week. When you get around to it Let me know if you are fabricating a alternator belt tensioner or going with the old one? Also, curious how much you play around with camber for your class? Thanks

Thanks Hey Duff, i'm already running an alternator tensioner thats slightly different than stock, I'm running a shorter belt with the stock tensioner run all the way in. I ditched the A/C on my auto-x car, and this is the setup I'm running, but am looking for a non A/C car with a standard alternator ajdustment arm already on it. As for camber, it will be track dependent, but I'm guessing anywhere from 1 1/2 degrees neg. to as much as 3 neg. up front and around 3/4 to 1 1/2 neg. at the rear. racerb ;D

Hey man the IT rules don't allow it, and it would negate the TVIS system, making the power delivery eratic. The one gray area of the SCCA GCR, is the fact that it states, if the mod is not listed or is allowed on a stock version of your car, then it's not permissable. Just remember that these rules have areas of flexabilty, but curtain items are strictly prohibited, and the intake of most all cars is one of the biggest. racerb
